Environment and European enlargement: Air emissions (Feb 28 1999 23:00 GMT)

- This study quantifies the possible environmental improvements from the ongoing economic transition process in the Central and Eastern European Contries (CEECs). It attempts to assess the additional gains to be made by an accelerated harmonisation of the energy and emission standards with the current legislation of the European Union. The study explores the emissions and the environmental impacts of these scenarios and analyses their strength against variations of some important assumptions.
