Recommendations for Revised Data Systems for Air Emission Inventories (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- CORINAIR is a programme to establish an inventory of emissions of air pollutants in Europe. There are gaps and inconsistencies in CORINAIR90 and the process to deliver the final data took longer than expected. In a separate report, the results of a review of CORINAIR90 have been presented, including detailed proposals for improvements. In this report proposals are elaborated to provide detailed specifications and recommendations for a revised data system.

Air Emissions - Annual summary report 1995 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- This report provides a summary of activities and products from the European Environment Agency's Topic Centre on Air Emissions (ETC/AE) during 1995.

Review of CORINAIR 90 - Proposals for Air Emissions 1994 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- End of 1994 the EEA's ETC/AEM took over the CORINAIR programme and finalised several reports on the results of CORINAIR1990. The results of CORINAIR1990 provided the most detailed, complete, consistent and transparent European air emission inventory. There still remained gaps and inconsistencies in CORINAIR90 and the process to deliver the final data took too long. This report presents the results of a review of CORINAIR90 and gives detailed proposals for improvement.

CORINAIR 1990 - Summary Report 2 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- The results of CORINAIR1990 provided the most detailed, complete, consistent and transparent European air emission inventory. The summary report 1 provides for each of the eight pollutants the contribution of individual countries to the total European emissions as well as emissions per main source sector, per capita and per km2. This report 2 presents an analysis by sub source sector (approximately 60) and report 3 gives an overview of the most important point sources.

CORINAIR 1990 - Summary Report 1 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- The results of CORINAIR1990 provided the most detailed, complete, consistent and transparent European air emission inventory. This summary report 1 provides for each of the eight pollutants the contribution of individual countries to the total European emissions as well as emissions per main source sector, per capita and per km2.Report 2 presents an analysis by sub source sector (approximately 60) and report 3 gives an overview of the most important point sources.

Reports

CORINAIR 1990 - Summary Report 3 - Large Point Sources (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- This summary report 3 provides for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide an overview of the contribution of the emissions of large point sources to total European air emissions and more detailed information on the individual, most important point sources. The summary reports 1 and 2 present analyses of respectively the (11) main source sectors and the (approximately 60) sub source sectors.

Air Emissions - Annual summary report 1996 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- This report provides a summary of activities and products from the ETC/AE during 1996. ETC/AE started work with NRCs on the CORINAIR94 Air Emission Inventory based on proposals and recommendations prepared by ETC/AE in 1995. Preliminary CORINAIR94 emission estimates provided by NRCs to ETC/AE were published by the Agency in mid 1996. The main attributes and outputs from ETC/AE are presented in this report.

Review Study on European Urban Emissions Inventories (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- Aimed at encouraging a process of harmonisation of European air emissions inventories. To achieve this target, this report has three main contributions: 1, a first draft of guidelines for harmonised European urban inventory preparation and use; 2, a proposal for an information sheet for an urban inventories catalogue in order to obtain a European view of the current situation; 3, a top-down approach from CORINAIR to urban inventories, with some methodological considerations.

Marine and Coastal Environment - Annual summary report 1996 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- This Report presents a summary of the main activities carried out by the European Topic Centre on Marine and Coastal Environment in 1996

Reports

Land Cover - Annual summary report 1996 (Jul 21 1999 11:01 GMT)

- The report summarises and highlights the main activities and findings of the European Topic Centre on Land Cover in 1996: Production and Support to National ; Development of Guidelines ; Environmental Applications ; Application Service and Strategies ;

Requirements for water monitoring (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- The report describes the requirements for monitoring prescribed by existing and proposed EU legislation and from international agreements in terms of water types (groundwater, surface, coastal and marine), matrix (water, sediment, biota), determinands, methodologies, frequency of monitoring, location and density of monitoring sites, quality control procedures, and data treatment and storage.

Reports

Surface water quality monitoring (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- This report provides an overview of the existing water quality monitoring activities in all 18 countries in the EEA area. The study covers all surface waters, i.e. rivers, lakes and reservoirs, as well as coastal and open marine waters, and provides for each country a description of: purposes of monitoring, network design, variables measured and matrices sampled, frequency of sampling, data storage, analysis and reporting.

Reports

Groundwater Monitoring in Europe (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- This report provides an overview of the existing groundwater monitoring activities (quality and quantity) in 16 countries in the EEA area. The following topics are included: objectives of monitoring, name of monitoring programme, list of responsible organisations, spatial extent of network, determinands, sampling frequency, analytical methods, data storage and analysis and reporting procedures.

Human Interventions in the Hydrological Cycle (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- Human interventions can have profound effects on water resources, water quality and aquatic and riparian ecology. There is a need to quantify both their extent and importance, and to quantify the nature and significance of the effects they have. This report describes a scoping study carried out by the European Topic Centre on Inland Waters to set the terms of reference for a later study which will quantify and compare human interventions across all European Environment Agency member countries.

European Freshwater Monitoring, Summary of Network Design (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- This report summarises the design of a freshwater monitoring network proposed for improvement of quantitative assessment of water resources - aquifers, rivers, lakes and reservoirs - across Europe. To minimise cost implications the network should be based where possible on existing national and international networks, use existing sources of information and produce an EEA database of aggregated data and information rather than provide a collection of raw non-processed data.

Reports

International water databases (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- This report catalogues and summarises the data contained within databases associated with international water monitoring programmes which are relevant to the European Environment Agency's needs. Information is provided on each of the data sources together with the type of data included, countries and water bodies covered and the determinands measured.

Reports

Inland Waters - Annual summary report 1996 (Jul 21 1999 11:00 GMT)

- The European Topic Centre on Inland Waters continued in 1996 the progress in assessing water quality and the pressures influencing it in Agency member countries, and in designing and implementing the freshwater monitoring network (WATERNET) to form the basis for future water monitoring across the Agency area in order to improve data comparability and reporting on Europe’s aquatic environment. The various tasks performed, major findings and meetings attended are described in this report.
