Computer-based models in integrated environmental assessment (Oct 25 1999 11:12 GMT) - Integrated Environmental Assessment (IEA) is increasingly recognised as an important technique for managing the environmental impacts of human actions.The concept of Integrated Environmental Assessment as a discipline is relatively new, and some of the ideas involved are quite novel. This report is intended to help those new to the field. The first half of the report describes in more detail what IEA is and what it can do, in comparison with other assessment techniques, and gives examples of uses of IEA in practical applications. The second part of the report describes how computer models and tools can support assessment work. |

Criteria for EUROAIRNET - The EEA Air Quality Monitoring and Information Network (Oct 25 1999 11:08 GMT) - This report describes the objectives of EUROAIRNET( EEA Air Quality Monitoring and Information Network) and the criteria behind the design and establishment of the network. The place of EUROAIRNET relative to two other EU-wide networks or reporting processes are described; namely the network and reporting to show compliance with the EU air quality directives (the Regulatory network) and the reporting under the Exchange of Information (EoI) Decision. |

National Ozone Forecasting Systems and International Data Exchange in Northwest Europe (Oct 25 1999 11:03 GMT) - The report is a joint effort by experts from 10 European countries, co-ordinated by the European Topic Centre on Air Quality. It reviews systems for forecasting and information on ozone episodes currently in use and under development in the various countries. The methods used to release forecasts to the target groups are described. Criteria for testing forecasting systems are discussed, and recommendations made to improve exchange of national ozone data. |
