Calculation of nutrient surpluses from agricultural sources - Statistics spatialisation by means of CORINE land cover - Application to the case of nitrogen (Jan 28 2001 23:00 GMT)

- The assessment of potential losses of agricultural fertilizers to waters require prior calculation of nutrient balance (surplus). This study shows how the use of CORINE land cover allows calculating comparable surplus values at the river catchment level, despite heterogeneity and high degree of aggregation of the available statistics for the two test basins (Loire, (F) and Elbe (D, CZ)).

- This report is part of the project undertaken with the participation of the firm Garrigues and Andersen to carry out for the European Environment Agency (EEA) the study of the reporting obligations in the framework of environmental conventions and provide support to international activities, also to support the European Commission (Environment DG) as representative of the European Community as Party to the conventions.
