- Rally NZ: Possum looks to mix it with the big boys 21 September 2001 Possum Bourne wants to pluck a few works team scalps when he competes in the world championship Rally of New Zealand starting on Friday. For the last two years Bourne has mixed it with the factory backed entries in the event, finishing fifth and sixth respectively in his ex-works Subaru Impreza WRC 98. For this year's event he had hoped to debut the latest shape Impreza WRC, a 2001 model. But the England based factory team, Prodrive, could not supply a car in time, so Bourne will use the 2000 model with which he has dominated the Australian championship. |

- Defending national rally champ's plans in disarray after delays Top seed and defending national champion Bruce Herbert has seen his plans for this weekend's Southern Motor Court Subaru Otago Rally thrown into disarray by delays in gaining the international competition certification for the new-shape Impreza STi. Herbert's appearance is now reliant on the sport's national governing body granting a special dispensation allowing him to run as a championship entry. A final decision had not been made when this week's edition of Torque Sport went to press, leaving Herbert unable to confirm his appearance at the May 19-20 event. "Bourne for rally show Possum Bourne and the new-shape Impreza STi will be the star attractions at the pre-event rally show in the Dunedin Town Hall this Friday night. The show, which opens at 5pm, will feature all of the top national championship and classic cars on display. |
