Blogger News Item (Apr 13 2002 23:11 GMT) - It seems as if Gator is really, really, really trying to get on more computers by have a popunder prompt you to save to installer. Obviously this will prey on people who don't understand what is really happening, and as the number of people using the web continue to go up, so do the number of people who will be dupped into installing this software. Slashdot also picked up the story, and as you can imagine didn't really think it was a nice thing of Gator to do. [ disclaimer: I |

Blogger News Item (Apr 13 2002 23:11 GMT) - In an offline discussion with another reporter, he says that weblogs are proof that writers need editors. I don't agree. I prefer the authentic voice. A person living it can't abstract it the way a writer in an office building far away does. Sure they interview people who are there, but the editorial process strips out the authenticity. |

DSL bills going down? (Apr 13 2002 23:11 GMT) - CA Utility Commission to Regulate DSL [Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters] I would hope that my DSL bill would go down, but I doubt it. I'm sure Pac Bell can show they are loosing money even though they charge more than everyone else. Yes, yes...I know everyone else leeches off their lines. |

Alf? (Apr 13 2002 23:11 GMT) - So 10-10-220 has gone and done it now... They have Alf pimping their wares along side Terry Bradshaw and Mike Piazza. Are they in some bad TV commercial contest with AT&T and 1-800-COLLECT? It's really pathetic considering the budget they have for those commercials that they are so bad. Now that I know what the inside of the ad world is like I have no patience for bad advertising... |

The NYT feeds are fixed! (Apr 13 2002 23:11 GMT) - BTW, a fix was implemented yesterday for the NY Times feeds. Apparently in their CMS the urls change sometimes when the stories don't. Radio's News Aggregator is senstitive to even the slightest change in a news item. The fix was relatively easy once we knew what to do. Today I only got new stories. |
