Biometrics fail DOD tests (Jun 30 2002 16:48 GMT) - Another setback for biometrics - in real world testing, Visionics' system was 51% accurate, far below the purported 75-99.3% accuracy, and Iridian's claimed 99.5% turned into an actual 94%. Even the hyped 99.5% would be far too low for a facility with a few thousand people - any system which generates multiple misidentifications each day would quickly be ignored. |
