Surviving The Tide (Sep 06 2002 23:48 GMT) - Great article in LARTA ... As startup companies struggle to grow and stay afloat in the truly "new economy" of drowned resources, the rules of traditional business sense have never looked more sensible. It isn't a bad time to start a company, or to grow one, with a solid perspective. I'd check this out... |

Aid the rescue workers (Sep 06 2002 23:48 GMT) - There have been reports of rescue workers needing socks and t-shirts. While there have been many cases of people bringing their own clothes to Chelsea Piers, the fact is that it won't be enough, there is a need for thousands upon thousands of unused socks. The reality is that most of the workers will risk infection and clothes from private homes will not be clean enough, even if unused. There is a ready source of clean clothing, water and dried goods in the immediate WTC area and in NJ, Brooklyn and upper Manhattan: K Mart, Rite Aid, Costco, Modell's, Foot Locker and Food Emporium. |

Money Changes Everything (Sep 06 2002 23:48 GMT) - Great article from the San Diego Union Tribune... During the exuberant heights of the Internet craze, dot-commers mocked the business practices of the old economy. The establishment was too slow, too uptight and too unimaginative, the digerati crowed. In no uncertain terms, the dot-coms vowed to cast aside old, stodgy ways and impose a new e-world order. Now that the bubble has burst on the Internet craze, old-economy fogies are getting their say: |

Letter on Amazon (Sep 06 2002 23:48 GMT) - A great piece of analysis by Eli on Amazon... If Amazon fails, it is because they deserve to, and no one, in my opinion, should contemplate any kind of a bail out. Amazon, like so many other dot.coms, is a victim of its own stupidity and excess and Wall Street's greed. |

Quote of the Day (Sep 06 2002 23:48 GMT) - Jason McCabe Calacanis gets the prize! The Internet will evolve more in the next 12 months than it has in the past four years. We're in the middle of a growth spurt that we have not seen since '95 and '96, when it seemed like everyday a new HTML tag or plug-in was introduced. How true. |
