old school... no, really. (Feb 04 2003 23:18 GMT) - today i was sent back in time by an article detailing the still-breathing development arena for Atari 2600 games. i remember this being my first console ever, and i played for hours on games like centipede, asteroids, and space invaders. this inspired me to go out and get myself another classic: the legend of zelda. i figure the ocarina of time bonus disc for GC ships feb 17, so i have about two weeks to work my way back through all of the previous adventures. |

WSDL and Python (Feb 04 2003 23:09 GMT) - Uche Ogbuji released a tutorial at IBM DeveloperWorks in 2001 that guides you through using WSDL in Python. He also released a library for Python called WSDL4py. It is interesting that neither of the two "major" Python SOAP implementations seem to support WSDL at all. |

Manufacturing a NASA Scandal (Feb 04 2003 23:03 GMT) - Monday afternoon, I watched a NASA press conference that I think could be best summarized as follows:We have a lot of new evidence that we are sifting through to determine a cause. We do not know the cause and may never know the cause. Current assessments indicate the damage to the left wing that resulted from falling tank debris during lift-off was not sufficient to be the root cause of the accident, but we are thoroughly examining all possibilities.I was of course very interested to read the headline in Tuesday morning's News and Observer, "NASA points to damage to shuttle wing as culprit. |

Testing of indicators for the marine and coastal environment in Europe - Part 2: Hazardous substances (Feb 04 2003 23:00 GMT) - This report, the second in a three-volume series on development of coastal indicators by EEA, explains the process and results of a study of potential state and pressure indicators for hazardous substances in coastal waters. Due to a lack of reliable and comparable European data, the testing mainly concentrated on the method for aggregating data on six substances monitored in the North East Atlantic Ocean. The report's primary aim is to test indicators for EEA reporting. |
