Breaking in to Jordan's House (Feb 04 2003 14:40 GMT)

- Yesterday, Jordan and I went to the gym to play a few games of racquetball (I won BOTH games!). Jordan managed to lock herself out of her house, so we got to break into her house. First we tried to get the key from the neighbor's house, but she couldn't find the right one. So, we managed to remove the screen from one of her front windows and then I got to climb through the window, land on the couch, and then flip on to the floor.

- We spent last night watching About A Boy.  Great movie.  Most movies I've seen that try to be funny and moving wind up feeling flat and formulaic.

Shuttle: Columbia's timeline, and the future of humans and/in space (Feb 04 2003 14:16 GMT)

- Columbia fact-file Includes a timeline on which we can see that the project to build Columbia took from 1971 (project approval) to 1981 (maiden flight). A long development cycle. Washington Monthly reprints its 1980 essay on the drawbacks (dangers?) of the shuttle: Beam Me Out Of This Death Trap, Scotty:

- Paul Crugman, in the NY Times, writes: Like millions of other Americans, I dream of a day when humanity expands beyond Earth, and I'm still a sucker for well-told space travel stories — I was furious when Fox canceled "Firefly.

Garth points to a fun ... (Feb 04 2003 14:06 GMT)

- Garth points to a fun essay called The Wifely Duty.  He quotes my favorite part: What we've learned during this thirty-year grand experiment is that men can be cajoled into doing all sorts of household tasks, but they will not do them the way a woman would. They will bathe the children, but they will not straighten the bath mat and wring out the washcloths;

Andreas Feiningers große Fotolehre (Feb 04 2003 14:00 GMT)

- Andreas Feiningers große Fotolehre. Original: The Complete Photographer.

Late introduction (Feb 04 2003 14:00 GMT)

- I was so taken from putting my work on the blog that I've completely forgot to introduce myself. Well, this post should try to fix that. My name is Paolo Marcucci, born in Italy and moved to Victoria, BC four years ago. I'm a consultant with BA (Business Analyst) responsibilities for a midsize consulting company out of Vancouver. I've dabbled in "the industry" for more than 20 years, going from FORTRAN to Pascal to C to Java...
