Brugge (Mar 16 2003 23:59 GMT) - This morning I was awakened about an hour before I intended by the bells of the nearby St. Saviour's Cathedral, which were ringing out every ten minutes or so it seemed. After finally waking up and breakfasting we set out into yet another beautiful day for a leisurely walk around the city. The skyline of Brugge is dominated by the three towers of St. Saviour's Cathedral, the Church of Our Lady, and the Belfry Tower on the main square, and there are numerous other small churches and chapels dotted around the place, and the bells of this morning set the tone for the day as for a while, it seemed, no sooner would one set of bells stop than another would start. |

Just a reminder (Mar 16 2003 23:35 GMT) - "I'm determined that the United States will remain the strongest of all nations, but our power will never be used to initiate a threat to the security of any nation or to the rights of any human being. We seek to be and to remain secure--a nation at peace in a stable world. But to be secure we must face the world as it is. [...] This situation demands careful thought, steady nerves, and resolute action, not only for this year but for many years to come. |
