Omelet Dinner (Mar 28 2003 23:59 GMT) - Free range eggs become mushroom spinach omelets tonight. Mr. Fred, with whom Chris works, has two daughters who decided that raising chickens would make for an interesting hobby. Who are we to argue when that means omelets this good? |

(Mar 28 2003 23:55 GMT) - Posted by The Happy Tutor How that sanctimonious little twit Phil Cubeta got his hooks into a Worldclass Dom like Peter Karoff, I will never know. From the way Cubeta talks you would think that he was Mr. Goody-Twoshoes. Cubeta buffs the boots of wealth and power, and says he is acting "pro bono publico." |

Can Slash handle long lived items (Mar 28 2003 23:46 GMT) - I have a need for a site that will support both short time articles and documents that have a very long life (on the order of over 5 years). Before re-inventing this I wanted to ask if there was a plugin or something that allowed me to have a storage area for documents that have a very long life. For example policies and procedures. I would like to have a index page for these items generated automaticly and also be able to announce them in a regular story. For a real example one thing I would like to be able to do is to post scores from a weekly match (USPSA) and have an index page that will show each weeks history. |

We had some of the finest cheeses, chocolates, and wine, all from Switzerland. This soiree (French for party) was put on TasteDC.com and was a great time. If you don't see us for the next few days, we'll be at the gym working it all off. |

Idealism (Mar 28 2003 23:31 GMT) - In 1995, when I was twenty years old and had spent the last two years travelling in a variety of places, I got a letter from a friend to whom I had been writing all that time. She was concerned about the way the stories I sent home were changing. Rather than my earlier meditations on the culture and customs of the places I visited, I turned over time to recounting more and more often my drunken or otherwise substance-fueled escapades, the beach parties of an Australian summer or illicit, underage drinking in a bar in Boulder where Robert Redford... |

House approves national day of prayer and fasting (Mar 28 2003 23:20 GMT) - Er, what the hell? The House passed a resolution Thursday calling for a national day of humility, prayer and fasting in a time of war and terrorism. The resolution, passed 346-49, says Americans should use the day of prayer "to seek guidance from God to achieve a greater understanding of our own failings and to learn how we can do better in our everyday activities, and to gain resolve in meeting the challenges that confront our nation." OK, if the government goes ahead with this, it's time to eat, drink, and party on that day. |

Secure FTP 1.6.2 (Mar 28 2003 23:14 GMT) - If we had any journalistic integrity, we would probably avoid reviewing this application due to the fact that it is written in pure Java, and obviously designed for Windows. The theory being that Java applications, having not been written with Mac OS X in mind, can have their portentous interface peccadillos excused. But it’s all moot, since we have even less integrity than a certain Mac rumor site before Macworld. The first thing we noticed about Secure FTP was how difficult it is to download. |
