He writes about Reflector here. |

OK, so, I think I'm ... (Mar 29 2003 23:52 GMT) - OK, so, I think I'm building a "coder philosophy" now. Let's learn with just the SDK. Just the console and a text editor. Forget all the visual googaw you get with Visual Studio. Use C# since it doesn't hide things from you (and cause 8 out of 10 of my smart friends are C#'ers). |

Berbérian (Mar 29 2003 23:51 GMT) - Hitch Hiker (1999) I wanted to draw a comic. I was inspired by the drawing and visual story-telling style of Berbérian, a French comic artist , and wanted to draw a comic where I could concentrate on the drawings instead of the story. So I picked one of my favorite short stories, the Hitch-Hiker, by Roald Dahl. What I hadn't really noticed, though, is that the story consists almost entirely of dialogue. |

Rumsfeld shows the strain as ... (Mar 29 2003 23:47 GMT) - Rumsfeld shows the strain as he comes in the line of fire. I have met many smart but arrogant men in my life. The problem that happens is when they make a mistake, which all of us do, no one gives them a break. Out comes the knife. The old saw about being treated on the way down the way you treat people on the way up is true. |

Review : Megaman and Bass for Gameboy Advance (Mar 29 2003 23:43 GMT) - Megaman and Bass is now out on the GBA. This is one of the "Lost" Megaman Games like Megaman 6 and X3. It was originally called Rockman and Forte and was only released in Japan on the Super Famicom at the very end of the commercial run of the 16-bit era. The game is good but the main focus of the industry was on the new 32-bit Saturn and Playstation and so Rockman and Forte failed to gain an audience outside hard core Megaman fans. The same thing happened to Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island. |

Grafton Cheddar (Mar 29 2003 23:40 GMT) - Are you a cheese nut like me? Cheddar is perhaps my favorite of all, and you will never ever ever find a better cheddar than Grafton. It's pricey. Until just now I had no idea I could order over the web, so I assumed it was harder to find than it apparently is, but locally I only know a few places to get it. Open yourself a big red wine, chip away at your block of Grafton, and you won't ever go back to Calgon again. |

In any event, this is a small breakthrough for mobile phones. Hopefully the trend will continue... Editorial Note: |

Unfavorable Conditions (Mar 29 2003 23:32 GMT) - Richard Ashcroft, who was responsible for three of the best albums of the nineties when he was the face and voice of The Verve, has lost it. His latest album, Human Conditions, is competent yet soppy and unremarkable, and utterly lacking in the bravura of his older work. It made me glad that I bought it for only five under-the-table dollars from a flea market vendor on Avenue A ( |

This news might not get noticed by geeks (it should, they made some impressive gains around security, scalability, and performance with it), but I know the server group at NEC is happy to have been getting killer results with it.
