Quarterly Gadget Auction (Mar 31 2003 08:54 GMT) - The semi-regular gadget auction is on again where I clear out old unused junk, so I can buy new likely to be unused junk. You'll notice the D-Link antenna and access point are up for auction, signifying the end of the Sydney Wireless experiment. Also auctioning a Motorola V8088 in the next few days, and considering selling my Minolta Dimage 7i digicam and iPAQ 3870 PDA so I can upgrade to a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and an iPAQ 3970. |

Powerful listening (Mar 31 2003 08:50 GMT) - THE LISTENING LEADER "Lifting Listening Leadership Awareness and Action Worldwide" 03/31/03 ------------------------------ LISTENING-BASED INNOVATION Continuing success comes from value-creating innovation stimulated by disciplined listening. Occasional surveys are insufficient. Organizations need to build listening systems that capture, summarize, and disseminate the unmet dreams and unfulfilled wants of multiple customer groups, including existing, prospective, and internal customers (employees). Listening systems uncover fresh marketplace intelligence, help guide decision making, and nurture creative thinking. Effective listening systems involve both formal and informal methods, conversations with customers, the use of trend data to reveal changing patterns, the distribution of relevant information to all employees, and active discussion and application of findings in work groups. |

Frontier/Manila Lessons from Dave's Code 2: pta^.method == "POST" (Mar 31 2003 08:36 GMT) - Further experimentation with Dave's sample code revealed further lessons: When a user clicks on a form, the same Frontier script is invoked i.e. if I write a script called "default" as part of a Manila site, it will be called twice, once to display the form and the second to parse the form The first time the script will be called with pta^.method == "GET" and the second time with pta^. |

My Grand and Pointless War Piece (Mar 31 2003 08:33 GMT) - So you've read me for a while and you think you know where I stand on the war. Well, I suspect you are wrong. I've very much held back my opinions, because in a way they seem too much and at the same time too little. I don't want to warblog, though I may have strayed occasionally with some errant links and random comments. However, coming to a coherent whole about what's going on in our world is a whole nother deal. |

RSS Aggregators (Mar 31 2003 08:33 GMT) - So I was looking around for a decent RSS aggregator for Linux for a couple of hours today. I was looking for something easy to run and with an interface that cleanly displayed the various feeds I read. First I played with Amphetadesk. It was decent, displayed new entries in a clean format but I wasn't too keen on needing to run it as a server in order to get the content. Next up was BottomFeeder. |

Cool OS X Notepad App (Mar 31 2003 08:32 GMT) - Today I found a notepad type app for OS X that is the closest to what I've been looking for in a generic note-taking app. It's called VoodooPad. Here's a bit of the description from the product page: VoodooPad is a new kind of notepad. It's like having your own personal hypertext library, where you can jot down notes, web addresses, to-do lists... |

AliasesToLinks (Mar 31 2003 08:30 GMT) - When setting up a large collection of desktop pictures, it may be preferable to have the collection consist of aliases to photos in other folders, instead of containing the originals, or copies.
