[random thought] I've always wondered ... (Apr 06 2003 23:59 GMT) - [random thought] I've always wondered why this happens... I'll get online, sign onto AIM, and for the first 30 minutes (maybe 45) I can do all my "online stuff" (email, read the news, blog, etc) without any interruptions. |

XmlWriter (Apr 06 2003 23:59 GMT) - Giulio Piancastelli is using XOM to generate RSS fragments. I use XmlWriter which is one of things I miss most when I'm not coding in .NET private string makePayload() { const string TUNE_NS = "http://www. pocketsoap. |

My Inner-self (Apr 06 2003 23:59 GMT) - I decided that I would make another entry today but simply put up some poems that I've written lately - three of them to be exact. I don't know why, but I felt like putting them up here. Sometimes I... |

Beth's blog goes hi-tech! (Apr 06 2003 23:56 GMT) - Reading this site through a newsreader? I've made some changes! Basically, if you are looking at the RSS file, you should now be seeing RSS 2.0 rather than RSS 1.0 or 0. |

Config Hell (Apr 06 2003 23:56 GMT) - I really don't see the reason for .config files to be read only at run time. Why should i have to create my own class to persist to the XML file, or worst, have a copy in memory of the values, since any changes I would make to the config file at runtime will only be live after application restart (This is ofcourse only regarding winform apps. web.config behaves differently). |

I'm losing my virtual shirt now. (Apr 06 2003 23:51 GMT) - Argh. Not only did the cheating asshole cause me to decide not to sell my MT stock before it popped, but they finally put the person's shares back on the market, which caused the price to almost be cut in half! For that matter it looks like a few other items also went down significantly. I just went from 25th to 32nd place. I miss being 15th. |

Barry Sakharov - Live 93-02"There ... (Apr 06 2003 23:43 GMT) - Barry Sakharov - Live 93-02"There isn't a musician in Israel who is as innovative as rock veteran Barry Sakharov. With each album Sakharov breaks new ground. From the slick pop of Hakol O Klum (All or Nothing) to the dark garage rock of Simanim Shel Holeshet (Signs of Weakness) to the electronic Middle Eastern stylings of Negiot (Touches), Sakharov has pioneered a style of Israeli rock unaffected by the standard folk musings of the majority of popular Israeli singer-songwriters." |

Secret blacklists in Pennsylvania (Apr 06 2003 23:42 GMT) - So this story continues to amaze me. Pennsylvania has a law that gives the Pennsylvania Attorney General the power to order an ISP serving Pennsylvania citizens (read: any ISP anywhere) to block a site which the Pennsylvania Attorney General says serves child porn. There is no judicial review of the order, and as no ISP is likely to resist the order, the law results in unreviewed censorship of internet content. According to this report, the AG is now refusing to even reveal the list of sites his secret orders have blocked. |

OK, now I'm worried (Apr 06 2003 23:40 GMT) - I knew that SARS was a bad thing, and you should avoid getting it. But in the past couple of days I've become really worried about it. Kari lives in Vancouver (also known as Hongcouver) which has a large Chinese population that frequently travels to Hong Kong and I suppose to a lesser degree also to mainland China. And she studies at Simon Fraser University which has a large percentage of Chinese students. Two bits of information in the past couple of days have freaked me out. |
