- I started my CFI checkride yesterday, successfully completing the oral portion of the test. It wasn't too bad, but there were some things that I didn't know. Fortunately they weren't major. I didn't get the impression that I was ever on the verge of failing, so I feel pretty good about it. Kelvin Hiatt, the designated examiner that I am using, seemed fair and thorough.
