End of an era. Today ... (Apr 30 2003 15:59 GMT) - End of an era. Today is Tena Carter's last day working at Fawcette Technical Publications. Something she's done for more than a decade (she was its longest-lasting employee). If you bought me a beer and asked me to tell you stories about Tena, I'd probably tell you about the time she gave me a bloody nose on a beach in Cabo San Lucas. I was trying to tackle her and she did an adept move -- stepped outta the way and slammed me into the sand. |

NT Authentication using jCIFS Filter (Apr 30 2003 15:58 GMT) - I became aware of the jCIFS (Java Common Internet File System) project today (via the tomcat-user mailing list). The Common Internet File System (CIFS) is the de-facto standard file sharing protocol on the Microsoft Windows platform. It is the underlying networking protocol used when accessing "shares" with Windows Explorer, the Network Neighborhood, via a Map Network Drive... dialog, the C:> net use * \servershare commands, or smbclient on UNIX, smbfs on Linux, and elsewhere. |

"Marketing without results? How to fix it today!" (Apr 30 2003 15:56 GMT) - Cindy, a professional life coach, has been frustrated with the results her marketing efforts have been producing lately. Despite everything she is doing, the outcome is still not what she is looking for in her bottom line. "I'm motivated to earn, but feel overwhelmed with how many places there are that I must put my time," she says. "I'd like to be able to slow down, and having my web site bring me more good clients with less work would certainly be a desirable thing!" This is a common challenge that many businesses face. |
