Qwest raises objections to Comcast ad policy (May 06 2003 19:38 GMT) - Cable-television giant Comcast doesn't want to broadcast certain advertisements for one of its chief competitors, Qwest Communications International. Sounds logical. It is, after all, Comcast's system. That argument is getting a bad reception at Qwest, which says Comcast has a monopoly on millions of televisions. Qwest argues it has no option for TV commercials but to turn to its rival. |

SARS And Flir Cameras (May 06 2003 19:36 GMT) - dudeluna writes "Looks like they're going to use infrared cameras to identify possible SARS infected air travelers." This is a follow up to our story from a few weeks back about how Singapore was planning to use body scanners to check for SARS. Now we know what the technology is. The Flir infrared cameras can apparently detect temperature to one-tenth of a degree. The article also points out that the cameras are set to be used in many countries, including Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Canada to detect potential SARS patients. |
