NEW FORUM BOARD (May 12 2003 09:57 GMT) - Although the board we have been using is by no means old, I have not been satisfied with the performance of it on several occasions. I've done a bit of shopping around and installed a new open forum board today. All the posts have been transferred as well as all registered members of the previous board. |

LARGE COHONES ALERT (May 12 2003 09:54 GMT) - Don't look now! Always contriversial Daily columnists Elizabeth Madjlessi and Alexander Kendall says what everyone knows but nobody wanted to say:For example, consider the woefully misguided attempts of certain student groups to institute a living wage for workers on campus. Besides the fact that people do not die from lower wages, proponents of this policy would do well to attend Econ 1 and learn why such a living wage is detrimental to the workers they claim to be helping because it reduces their employment and increases deadweight loss.As if that isn't enough, they also assault all concepts not grounded in Economics: |

LOCAL TAXES (May 12 2003 09:54 GMT) - This article makes it look like tax reform could be a big priority in the upcoming governer race in Kentucky. New tax codes are needed that will "fit the economy better." Some would also say they're needed to tackle the $81.7 million budget windfall, too. For whatever reason, all the candidates who are asked about this respond vaguely that tax reform must be a part of a broader effort to make state government more efficient. |

WEAPONS OF MASS DECEPTION "Where ... (May 12 2003 09:54 GMT) - WEAPONS OF MASS DECEPTION "Where are Saddam's weapons of mass destruction? Was the war fought on a platform of lies? Taji was the only specific location singled out by Secretary of State Colin Powell in his address to the UN when he argued that evidence compiled by US intelligence proved the existence of an illegal weapons programme. 'This is one of 65 such facilities in Iraq,' Powell said."
