The Legend Of Tral (May 29 2003 23:54 GMT) - Dreams Of Esterton: Getting The Lead Out I wrote a new chapter for Dreams Of Esterton over at StorySprawl. Probably one of the worst chapters I've written recently, but sometimes you have to do that if you're going to get the muse in gear again. Pete and I have a goal to finish Esterton by the end of the summer. As you can see by the map, there's still a ways to go. |

Canadian Wheat Board opposes Monsanto's GM wheat product (May 29 2003 23:52 GMT) - This is interesting - it looks like consumers and a collection of farmers aren't the only ones against Monsanto's planned tests of GM wheat in Canada - the GM giant is also being opposed by the Canadian Wheat Board. The agency claims that Canadian farmers could lose hundreds of millions of dollars a year if Monsanto's application is accepted, because it could cost the country its access to top export markets. The Monsanto PR department says "We have tremendous support throughout the wheat value chain for getting regulatory approval... People want to know it is safe", which could mean that everybody's just saying "there's no way I'm going to use that product until I know for sure it won't kill anyone or cause the end of agriculture as we know it". There's no word on whether or not Monsanto will form the "Canadian Wheet Board" to try to spin things further. |

"Performed by students from the nearby agricultural university, the dance is perhaps the only militaristic drill in the world centred upon a vegetable." There are photos aplenty. (via db79) |

FOAF Registry? (May 29 2003 23:50 GMT) - Good tutorial on parsing RDF and FOAF. Ian Davis, whose Internet Alchemy blog is a good resource on semantic web and RDF topics, has published a good tutorial Parsing FOAF with PHP.
