A great idea! (May 31 2003 14:16 GMT) - I'm a contractor where I work. The contracting company does not give paid vacation (we get the 4% on each pay, instead) I'll be lucky if I can afford to have more than one day off a week throughout the summer. It gets way too tight in the pocketbook if I miss two days in the same week. When I told this to a friend of mine who works for the same company (she's an employee so she gets tons of time off) She had a great suggestions: "well, maybe you should buy one of... |

Ba'ath officers arrested (May 31 2003 14:15 GMT) - Australian Broadcasting Corporation: American military police raided the new Iraqi police academy Saturday and detained 15 senior officers holding a secret meeting of Saddam Hussein's Baath party, the US policing supremo Bernard Kerik said. Those held included the dean of the academy, Major General Akram Abdul Razak, five brigadier generals, three colonels and a lieutenant colonel. Mr Kerik said the raid on the meeting had followed a tip-off to his office and was greeted with celebration by some 100 to 150 ordinary policemen gathered outside. |

Awesome Leicester beat Sarries to claim wildcard spot [Geoff Casely] (May 31 2003 14:09 GMT) - In spite of the heat today I couldn't tear myself away from the TV to watch the the Zurich Wildcard Final for next years competition with my team Leicester Tigers vs Saracens. This proved to be one of the most thrilling games of the competition to date with the Tigers just edging it in the last quarter of extra time with a typical Neil Back try in front of the posts! Fez'es off to Sarries though who played with guts and determination throughout, after which both teams waved a sad goodbye to several stalwart players who had just played the last game in their respective shirts. Tigers pip Sarries to euro berth Sorry Sarries fans (of which I know there are a "couple" on Ecademy) maybe you could lend your voices to cheer on the very worthy and awesome winners Leicestershire Tigers in next years competition |

Anatomy of a Paypal Con... [Steven Livingstone] (May 31 2003 14:09 GMT) - I received an email today from my good ol friends at Paypal, asking to update my details so that the email wouldn't become inactive. The email was scarily branded as Paypal, going so far that all images and links actually went to the real Paypal web site. In fact there was only one line in the entire form that makes you realise this is actually a con. Rather than just warn you, i thought i would actually go into a little more detail so you know of similar scams in the future. The email is at the bottom of this message and you should feel free to have a look. |

The roaring 20's The Swinging 60's The ???? 2000's to 2019's [John M Howitt] (May 31 2003 14:09 GMT) - In looking back at the 20th century I recall that each decade from 1920 onwards had the suffix ‘ies’ and some had names. So The Roaring Twenties, The Swinging Sixties etc. But at worst the 80's the 90's and so on. So when we get to 2020 we are ok with the 20’s, then the 30’s etc but what are we going to do in the meantime? I mean from 2013 to 2019 they could be the Teenies, but that sounds awful (to me anyway) Any bright ideas? |
