Israel to lift travel restrictions (May 31 2003 23:12 GMT) - BBC News: Restrictions imposed on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip are being eased tonight, the Israeli army has said. Zimbabwe (May 31 2003 23:10 GMT) - BBC News: Zimbabweans are panic-buying in preparation for next week's opposition street protests designed to drive President Robert Mugabe from power. In the capital Harare, shoppers stocked up on essentials while thousands queued up at banks to withdraw cash. The government has pledged to crush the protests which it describes as a coup attempt and has put security forces on high alert. Soldiers are patrolling populous areas of the capital Harare, reportedly to discourage people from taking part. |

solar eclipse (May 31 2003 23:09 GMT) - yesterday morning we court a glimpse of the annular solar eclipse that could be seen over the north atlantic region. to be honest it was a total fluke that we even saw it at all-- we knew it was happening but i'd totally forgotten about it, i just happened to go out on the deck for some fresh air, looked up and there it was just visible through the cloud! solar eclipse. |
