California Recall 01 (Aug 09 2003 18:14 GMT) - Schwarzenegger is giving a brief speech outside the California government house after filing his candidacy papers. He has a good touch and looks good in front of a camera even without the tape going through editing. His wife is doing the political talking and telling the nation how wonderful he is. It's a little calculating but it allows him to focus on be humbled by the experience. Shriver is working the microphones aggressively so they are doing a good job of playing good cop, bad cop. |

Important Blogrolling News (Aug 09 2003 18:13 GMT) - The entire site will be down for a few hours starting later this afternoon while I do system wide upgrades. The Blogroll displays MAY experience slight downtime but no more than a few minutes while I install the new system. New user registration is being turned off for the next few days while we test the new system out. During the site downtime today you will not be able to add any new links to your blogroll. This is unfortunately necessary while I transition the database to the new storage format. |

Darkness (Aug 09 2003 18:10 GMT) - Something odd happened. While at work I was editing a file on one of my home computers when the connection suddenly stopped responding. So I did some checking and found that both my cable and DSL connections died at 6:40pm--at least that's what my monitoring told me. Figuring that could only mean a few things, all of them bad, I took that as my signal to head home. |

Doug's got it right...your career is YOUR responsibility (Aug 09 2003 18:10 GMT) - There has been a lot of talk on a lot of the blogs over going to PDC, the cost of PDC, etc. There is an argument made that the cost of an event like PDC is prohibitive, preventing folks working at smaller employers, or even the self employed from attending. This sort of begs a question: Who is responsible for your career?
