Brilliant (Aug 11 2003 23:59 GMT) - Allow me to preface this by saying that, in general, I'm not a big consumer of celebrity news/gossip. I find that most of the time, frankly, I just can't muster up the energy to care about who's divorcing whom or which boy band member is dating which overaged actress. This sort of gossip strikes me as harmless but boring, but it must be doing something for somebody because we as a society seemingly can't get enough of it. So, I'm standing in the checkout line at the grocery store today after work and it's taking foooooooooorever -- the guy at the head of the line is trying to pay with a check from the Bank of Yemen or something -- so I idly glance at the magazine rack. That's when I find out that a huge bombshell has apparently hit the world of Hollywood gossipmongering: |

Re: Outbound trackback does not work (Aug 11 2003 23:55 GMT) - You should use the permalink for the post and Radio will automatically look up and ping the TrackBack URL. It won't work if you use the actual TrackBack URL.Details here:"Since we do automatic Trackback and think that for most users that's the only reasonable way to do outbound Trackback, we require it, and will not work with sites that don't have the discovery RDF. Apparently it's quite easy to get the RDF into the templates in Movable Type. |

The Factory Design Pattern (Aug 11 2003 23:55 GMT) - Many popular software libraries make extensive use of design patterns so that the APIs can be abstracted out at a high level for the end programmer. The .NET Framework Class Library (FCL) is no exception. Given that the FCL builds on the strengths of Microsoft's experience with developing software libraries, one can assume that instances of design patterns found in the FCL are fairly appropriate usages of these patterns. In this article, Amit Goel describes some instances of a commonly occurring design pattern in the FCL: |
