Luke? LUUUKE!!? (Aug 11 2003 12:07 GMT) - Welcome to Sidi Driss Hotel, the troglodyte dwelling in Matmata, Tunisia which was filmed as the Lars homestead in Star Wars II and IV. Another nice travelogue link here. Or, if you can't take time off to go, perhaps you'd settle for an authentic souvenir. |

"Muahahahaha!!! |

RDF can be readable? (Aug 11 2003 12:05 GMT) - Aaron Swartz: These changes also have the side effect of making feeds valid RDF. This statement surprised me. So I tried it. I didn't get it right the first time, but after Aaron gave me a few suggestions on IRC last night, I finally got there. |

Dirty Linen (Aug 11 2003 12:03 GMT) - I forgot to mention that this past Saturday, another art event, called Dirty Linen Night occurred in the city, as opposed to White Linen Night that I wrote about last weekend. This event took place on Royal Street in the French Quarter, that runs parallel to the more famous, Bourbon Street - which most visitors think is synonymous with New Orleans. Israel's Wall: Security or Hegemony? (Aug 11 2003 12:03 GMT) - A presentation by Stephanie Khourie and Fouad Hallak from the PLO's Negotiation Support Unit at the Middle East Institute, July 17 '03. This is the same presentation given to Condoleeza Rice, persuading her to bring up the issue of the wall to Sharon. The presentation provides a detailed look at the pattern of Israeli settlements and access roads in the West Bank as a tool for "cantonizing" a future Palestinian state and examines the partially completed wall's role in this. There is currently a proposal from the administration to "dock" any money spent on the wall from US loan guarantees to Israel. The wall is expected to cost about $740 million, extending 370 miles, according to the Washington post. |
