search tips (Aug 11 2003 16:59 GMT) - These past few days I've been doing a lot more internet searching that usual, doing massive searches for references and old (old = 30 years old) research that might relate to mine, and making absolutely sure that I haven't missed anything. One important resource is the citeseer database, for scientific papers, which is truly fantastic, not just because it gives you the papers, but context for the papers, and bibliography references (in BibTeX format!). Aside from that obviously the number one resource is google (what else) but Dylan told me over the weekend a couple of google tips I didn't know. For example, you can use a tilde "~" sign before a keyword or sets of keywords for google to automatically. |

Magistrate courts to begin accepting plastic (Aug 11 2003 16:59 GMT) - The Daily Mail reports that the State Supreme Court equip all 55 of the state's magistrate courts to accept credit cards for payments of fines. Kanawha and Monongalia counties were the first to implement the change earlier this month. In the past, the Supreme Court did not allow payment by credit card because the big name card companies take a percentage of the charges and do not permit the vendor to pass the charge on to the customer. The Court has determined it would be better to eat the administrative cost in hopes of seeing an increase in payments because of the convenience of charging the payment. |
