Other networking sites [Irina Ignatova] (Aug 12 2003 08:58 GMT) - I know that there is most likely no equivalent of the same size and quality to Ecademy and that is definitely the best place I have seen so far in the sense of business networking. But I would also like to try some other networking groups. I am planning to make some search for them in the Internet very soon and see if anything alternative is available. Can anyone recommend any other sites that are their alternatives to Ecademy? Thanks a lot. |

Designers (Aug 12 2003 08:55 GMT) - Yesterday, Andy Budd asked "Why are so many CSS sites badly designed?" on the CSS-Discuss mailing list. Judging from the rest of his message, I don't think he really meant "badly designed", but rather "well designed, but boring, simple and lacking in style". There are two kinds of web designers,... |

Hyper-Threading Java (Aug 12 2003 08:54 GMT) - In early 2002 Intel became the first chip manufacturer to release a processor incorporating a new technology known as Simultaneous Multithreading, or SMT. Intel's SMT implementation (dubbed Hyper-Threading or HT) has been available in their Xeon processor line for over a year, with little fanfare. In April 2003, Intel announced that HT technology will be added to its desktop-focused Pentium 4 line of processors. With HT enabled on one of these new systems, the BIOS will present a single processor to the operating system as two logical processors. |

SpeedJG - XML based Java GUI Builder (Aug 12 2003 08:54 GMT) - SpeedJG is an XML-based GUI builder tool to create state-of-the-art Java Swing applications for Windows and Unix / Linux systems. The core part of this tool is a parser that reads the meta-data described in XML to create Java GUI components on the fly. An IDE, itself generated by and using this parser, enables the Java developer to design GUIs, generate their meta-data, check their layout, and create the corresponding source code. |

Full Time Job Trading In Virtual Video Game Goods (Aug 12 2003 08:53 GMT) - Just as we were talking about the virtual auctions at There.com comes the news that some guy is trying to make a living buying and selling virtual goods in Ultima Online, the popular online game. That's right, his full time job is now hanging out in the game (and on eBay and other sites) and trying to buy and sell things for real cash. This seems to have at least a slightly larger chance of succeeding compared to There.com. |
