Fighting A Movement With A Subpoena Is Doomed To Fail (Aug 12 2003 19:58 GMT) - There are about fifty different SCO/IBM/Linux stories coming out every day, and they all repeat the same things. So, it's good to see some folks try to look at the case from a different angle. Peter Skarzynski and Pierre Loewe of Strategos write about the case, saying that SCO has completely misunderstood Linux. They think it's a "product", when, in reality it's a movement - and you don't stop a movement with a subpoena. Instead, they list a four step process for companies to take when challenged by a "movement" that threatens their business, and they note that IBM (so far) has followed all of these steps successfully. |
