Forbiding tools that are required for the exercise of legally protected rights, like private use, preservation of works by libraries, and reverse engineering, means giving a complete monopoly to right-holders on the basic infrastructure needed to communicate in the digital world.... |

Crazy Week So... Lost my ... (Aug 13 2003 00:41 GMT) - Crazy Week So... Lost my lead male actor and a location because of scheduling conflicts. Got both replaced. Will be a surprise, I think it'll work out though. Casting for the female lead went OK, we have a woman who I think gives off the right energy for it. |

What it's like to be a gay Republican. (Aug 13 2003 00:40 GMT) - As a gay person, I feel fortunate to have been elected five times to public office. Being a Republican, I get criticized by both the far left and the radical right. Hate-spewing minister Fred Phelps called me a “faggot…worthy of the death penalty.” But such comments don’t come just from the Right. A Democrat in Los Angeles dubbed me “just another self-hating faggot” in his E-mail and wrote, “You and people like you are the worst enemies of the gay community. |

It Ain't Billboard, But.... (Aug 13 2003 00:39 GMT) - I noticed today that my weblog finally cracked the Salon total hits hot 100. My blog currently comes in at number 99 with 5,486 total hits. Doing some inexact math, since I've been blogging for about 200 days, that's an average of about 27 hits per day. Measley, but considering that in the early months I sometimes didn't get more than 5-10 hits in a day, it does show some improvement. So thanks again to my readers! |
