social traffic jams (Aug 13 2003 02:12 GMT) - i spent much of last weekend on the interstate around chicago. specifically, on a stretch of about two miles, i spent far too long. this gave me time to reflect about some of what i've been reading in weblogging circles these days. flaming isn't a new phenomenon, but it seems to have moved closer to the fore since the the project to build a new syndication format began. all of the more famous webloggers have strong opinions regarding this project, for obvious reasons. |

It isn't just that people who had quick eyes and nimble fingers liked to play games; these skills could be acquired by non-gamers who put in the time and effort to learn how to play. |

cutting the (spam filled) strings (Aug 13 2003 02:10 GMT) - I finally axed my last long-standing email address. The address had been in use for many many years, dating back from the domain I used when I ran my ISP. It was my second “public” email address that I used for websites and what not, thus obviously filling with great quantities of spam. |
