In recall election-related news (Aug 13 2003 03:02 GMT) - In recall election-related news: The Associated Press reports here that "Schwarzenegger films would trigger FCC equal time rule" (and ditto for "Diff'rent Strokes," but Father Guido Sarducci on cable supposedly would not trigger the provision). And you |

Must See TV... (Aug 13 2003 03:01 GMT) - For those of you that don't have Bravo, and are therefore missing "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" - I just caught a commercial on NBC that they will be airing one of my favorite episodes so far, the wedding proposal guy, on Thursday night at 9pm CST. Also, they will be on Leno on Thursday night making Jay over. Now you know that is going to be amusing! I also saw a commercial for the upcoming season of Friends. I don't know what it is, but I've never really wanted Rachel to get together with Joey. |

Swollen Orders Show Spam's Allure (Aug 13 2003 03:01 GMT) - This is a great article. A security flaw at a website operated by the purveyors of penis-enlargement pills has provided the world with a depressing answer to the question: Who in their right mind would buy something from a spammer? An order log left exposed at one of Amazing Internet Products' websites revealed that, over a four-week period, some 6,000 people responded to e-mail ads and placed orders for the company's Pinacle herbal supplement. Most customers ordered two bottles of the pills at a price of $50 per bottle. |

Royal Shutdown (Aug 13 2003 03:00 GMT) - Only two doubles so far tonight, as the Yankees behind the battery of Posada and Mussina are beating the Royals 4-0 in the 7th. Posada has a double and a HR, while Mussina has allowed four hits and four walks... |

D'oh! (Aug 13 2003 03:00 GMT) - If you're trying to win a court case, it pays to come up with some evidence, which for some reason country singer Kenny Chesney could not or would not do. Failing to produce an "official" Chesney t-shirt, the singer lost the court case in which he tried to have bootleggers banned from his concert sites. Maybe there is no such thing as an "official" Kenny Chesney t-shirt. |

Israel again (Aug 13 2003 03:00 GMT) - Wow. You suggest that Israel may not in fact be responsible for all the world's problems, or even all the Palestinians' problems, and it's like a dentist's drill striking a nerve. The hostility, the barely-disguised hatred of Israel by so... |

Alleged 9-11 Terrorist Hires Jewish Lawyer (Aug 13 2003 03:00 GMT) - The second alleged Sept. 11 terrorist to face trial in Germany has been painted as a fanatical Muslim. So his choices for lawyers - a woman and a Jew - have raised eyebrows. Abdelghani Mzoudi goes on trial Thursday in the same Hamburg courtroom where his friend and fellow Moroccan Mounir el Motassadeq was convicted six months ago. |
