BLAST (Aug 13 2003 04:27 GMT) - BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) is a set of similarity search programs that explore all of the available sequence databases for protein or DNA. BLAST is the only book completely devoted to this popular and important technology and offers biologists, computational biology students, and bioinformatics professionals a clear understanding of this program. This book shows you how to get specific answers with BLAST and how to use the software to interpret results. If you have an interest in sequence analysis this is a book you should own. |

And he has hardly been shy about serving as the Democratic Party's political consultant in chief. But Mr. Clinton was said to be particularly drawn to the California recall because of what he described to associates as disturbing parallels between the post-election effort to remove Mr. |

The Jer Zone web host ... (Aug 13 2003 04:24 GMT) - The Jer Zone web host had some kind of crash at the end of last week which corrupted some of the key files behind this weblog and the various strange scripts I have lying about. It's almost like they recovered some of the directories as a single file, and then used a genuine Ginsu knife to slice it into file sized chunks. The result being that some files had parts of other files and I've been tweaking things ever since. The latest fix was to the comment system, which had extra text barf in it. If you run into something that looks more esoteric than usual please let me know and I'll either fix it or patent it. |

Faith is a member of the chorus in a local production of Verdi's La Traviata opera, thus the crazy makeup and outfit. One of the singers took the photo, which was in bright flourescent with a flash (gack!). |
