Updating Radio Userland Well, I ... (Aug 13 2003 04:20 GMT) - Updating Radio Userland Well, I did it. I went ahead and ponied up another $40 to renew my Radio subscription for another year. John was the second person to point out that my historical archives were no longer working. I guess that's one of the ways that Userland gets you. Stop paying and we stop archiving. |

Was dann? |

Worm's spread shows holes in ... (Aug 13 2003 04:17 GMT) - Worm's spread shows holes in patch system. The MSBlast worm's spread supports the view that patches, while necessary to increase the security of specific computers, can't be relied upon to protect large networks. [CNET News.com] "Instead of relying on its clients to patch their systems, BrightNet has blocked traffic to the vulnerable software addresses, or ports, and e-mail alerts will be sent to infected users." |

Just Call Me Ami (Aug 13 2003 04:15 GMT) - "wir sprechen Amerikan" is from a post about languages on the upcoming California ballot, but it is closer to the truth than you might think. In Germany, the language we speak in the US is often referred to as "Amerikanisch", as if it has nothing to do with English. Even better is to be referred to as a "US-Amerikaner", which even though it incorporates the beloved letters 'USA', to me sounds like PC mumbo-jumbo. I mean, even though there is North America and South America, there does not exist an 'America' of which the US is a subset. Please, just call me 'Ami'! |
