Blah Blah Blog - Politicians Blogging Nothing Of Importance (Aug 13 2003 05:21 GMT) - With all the focus on Howard Dean and blogging in the last couple of months, it seems a number of other politicians have started to get the message that maybe there is something to this whole "blogging" thing. Of course, they then attack it in typical politician fashion and assign an aide to come up with a blog for them. Maureen Dowd at the NY Times takes a look at a bunch of the new Presidential candidate blogs and is not very impressed, pointing out that none of them really have the off-the-cuff type of speech that makes blogs worth reading and makes readers feel like they have a connection with the writer. Specifically, she wanted to see politicians insulting each other. The only political blogger she thought got it right was one who decided early on not to run: |

Google Calculator (Aug 13 2003 05:18 GMT) - Google is the coolest web site EVER! They've built in the most wicked cool calculator you've ever seen. I don't know how long it's been in there, but it does the most obscure conversions you could possibly imagine. Say for instance if you wanted a parsec expressed in inches. So cool, I've been playing with it for literally seconds. |

Write-in Election (Aug 13 2003 05:18 GMT) - A write-in election might just give Davis the recall with a capital N-O. Neither S-c-h-w-a-r-z-e-n-e-g-g-e-r nor B-u-s-t-a-m-a-n-t-e would have any sure votes. |

Hot hot heat (Aug 13 2003 05:16 GMT) - As a British blogger, I am of course duty bound to post about how hot it's been recently. It's been unusually hot recently. Right, that's that out of the way. Actually having said that, it hasn't been as bad here as in the rest of the country; my parents came down from ... |

The effectivity of Mac OS X spam filter (Aug 13 2003 05:16 GMT) - I have been using the spam filter of Mac OS X for about a year, and the effectivity has varied a lot, getting as low as 70% of received spam messages. On the other hand, currently the filter is performing excellently: 239 recognized spam messages out of 266 messages received in one week. Thus, the filter recognized 90% of spam. Not bad. |

Joanie Smash (Aug 13 2003 05:16 GMT) - My phone card has joined with the ghosts of the legions of socks that once marched proudly, two by two into the laundry to emerge with their numbers seriously depleted, ravaged by the dark forces that lurk there. So I guess I won't be calling Mama just now. Pity. Bad geek did not update her service packs. Bad geek. |
