[Tim Strafford-Taylor] (Aug 13 2003 11:00 GMT) - another article on why the Floppy drives near extinction because "USB flash memory storage device can now start a PC's boot-up process" In my experience when on customer sites "consulting", the floppy is STILL the lowest common denominator data transfer mechanism (e.g.to get a doc printed without access to a corporate network, to get copies of background documentation, etc), and what's more, it works.... so I think they'll be around for a little while yet..... There are some other alterntives to the flash memory around, e. |
