Blah Blah Blah Day (Aug 15 2003 15:59 GMT) - I have almost nothing to say today, so a quick run-down: Tiger flubs another first round. Hard to win majors when you start all four over par. Blackouts. My father and I were betting on guaranteed looting and rioting in Detroit, but apparently the night passed in Motown almost without incident. |

Dirty George to Go to Court (Aug 15 2003 15:59 GMT) - ABCOnline has this story on a court date being set in September for "Dirty" Geroge Smith on his charge of assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm after an alleged fight outside a Canberra nightclub in March. I Wonder if he will get it posponed again until after the World Cup. Which is mightier, the Rugby old boys connections or the inertia of the legal system? |

Initiative or Cheating by RMC Cadets (Aug 15 2003 15:59 GMT) - ABC Online have this story about some RMC Staff Cadets cheating on their tactical exercises without troops by using previous years tests and actually driving out to the area in which the test would take place and looking at the lay of the ground. The army says they view the matter seriously and an investigation is underway. It is unclear what penalty, if any, the cadets would face if the allegations are proven. The only real problem with this that I see is that they were stupid enough to get caught. Here is a hint guys, two up, one back, from the right flank, it always works. |

Kids To Get More Jabs (Aug 15 2003 15:59 GMT) - Simon Corbell has put out this media release on the provision of free meningococcal C vaccinations for teenagers. What I liked best was the warning signs to look for such as, headache, joint pain, neck stiffness, dislike of bright lights, lethargy, high temperature, vomiting and a rash of red-purple spots or bruises. Sounds like a normal teenage reaction to just waking up in the morning. Just another entry in the old needlebook. Speaking of which does anyone still have their old jabs book, ever had a look back through it and see how many jabs you got and what for? |

Harmonisation = Efficiency? (Aug 15 2003 15:59 GMT) - The Comrade with his ACT Attorney General hat on (becuase in the Workers Paradise everyone can do every job, they just need more hats) has put out this media release on the Harmonisation of the ACT Supreme Court and ACT Magistrates Court. While the idea of having the same procedural rules apply to both ACT Courts is a good idea, couldn't they have come up with a better name? |
