Die Bibliotheca Corviniana und die Corvineneinbände : neue Erkenntnisse zu ihrer Beurteilung (Oct 01 2003 01:35 GMT) - This online resource comprises an essay by Marianne Rozsondai about the Bibliotheca Corviniana in Buda, the library of King Matthias Corvinus (1458-1490), and in particular about Corvine bindings. In it the author describes the four main types of bindings in the library, the transition in bindings to the Wladislaw period and bindings during that period, the binding of the Lucretius manuscript, now in the National Library of Austria, and the Corvinus binder. She argues that the Corvinus binder was not Lucas Coronensis. The writer describes Corvine books which do not have Corvine bindings. She defines "Corvine" books to include books acquired by the library after the death of Corvinus, by Kings Wladislaw II (1490-1516) and Ludwig II (1516-26). |

Google (Oct 01 2003 01:33 GMT) - What is going on with Google? I have my preferences set to show only English results, since that's the only language I understand. Yet, I get tons of results in other languages, many of which show a "translate" link! If there's a translate link, that makes me think the webmaster has set their site's language (in their metas) as a language other than English! Another thing that's been urking me about Google is their filtering; |
