OpenBSD: 3.4 Song Available (Oct 01 2003 06:55 GMT) - OpenBSD creator Theo de Raadt [interview] announced on the OpenBSD -misc mailing list that the song for the upcoming OpenBSD 3.4 release [forum] is already available for download. The new song is titled, "The Legend of Puffy Hood", based on a familiar and true story (go here and scroll down to April, 2003 if you missed all the excitement). The synopsis begins, "Join Puffy Hood and his Funny Fish as they take on the Sherriff (an unelected leader) and other evil forces of the draconian government!" The page notes that the song is allegorical of recent happenings, this time in response to DARPA suddenly pulling OpenBSD funds last April. |

FreeBSD: 5.2-RELEASE TODO, Debating the Future of Alpha and Sparc64 (Oct 01 2003 06:55 GMT) - Robert Watson posted another FreeBSD 5.2 "Open Issues" list, still containing 18 "must resolve issues" before 5.2 will be released [forum]. A discussion followed about one of the items, "KSE support for alpha", owned by Marcel Moolenaar. Marcel indicated that the implementation would happen, however suggesting that the Alpha architecture should be demoted to a 'Tier 2 Developmental Architecture' now reaching toward its end of life. |

Nástroj by měl být podle Borlandu ideální pro migrace aplikací z proprietárních Unixů na Linux. Vývojové prostředí by mělo umožnit další využívání C++ k tvorbě výkonných a kritických aplikací, nově by se tento jazyk měl výrazněji uplatnit při návrhu aplikací pro vestavěná a mobilní zařízení. |
