Thailand Hunts for Alleged Smuggled Missiles Ahead of APEC Summit (Oct 01 2003 18:20 GMT) - Thailand Hunts for Alleged Smuggled Missiles Ahead of APEC Summit Thailand's deputy prime minister says authorities are hunting for surface-to-air missiles allegedly smuggled into the country from Cambodia. Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, who is in charge of national security, told reporters Wednesday the government has known about the missiles for some time. He said authorities are urging police to find them for fear they could be used by terrorists to disrupt the upcoming meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Bangkok. ed: remember, Hambali said there were plans to attack this meeting, and one of his cronies even noted a good location from which to fire a missile |
