The physics of the skateboard ... (Oct 01 2003 22:28 GMT) - The physics of the skateboard "ollie" [Skateboard Science]. I have spent considerable time trying to wrap my brain around this one and I have to say that I did have it pretty much figured out. My goal in trying to figure it out was, of course, to be able to perform the feat myself. I still can't do an ollie very effectively, but now I know why it works in the first place. |

Queer Eye for the Montana-ites (Oct 01 2003 22:27 GMT) - The Montana Fucktard, errr, Family Coalition plans to launch a campaign against the TV show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. They call it "trash" that should not be on TV. They go on to say this: A really good reality show for gay people would be five gay men dying of AIDS. Though I admire their desire to get AIDS back in the spotlight (sarcasm here, folks), this MFC is so completely fucked in the head that they are the ones dying of a disease. |

Martin Temper, hidden potential (Oct 01 2003 22:27 GMT) - Martin Temper was no fool. He knew he was a stereotype. He was not the sports-obsessing, pub-rousing, infrequently-sock-changing sort of bloke with whom New Zealand is famously populated. There was no beer in his fridge, no crumpled phone numbers on... |

Buy the Canon PowerShot A70 and explain it to me – that's what friends are for (Oct 01 2003 22:27 GMT) - Nowadays the gadgetry available even to quite non-rich people is advancing at a hectic rate, and the people in the shops selling these gadgets can't keep up with it. The very thing that makes you want to go back to the shop to ask them how the hell it works is the exact same reason why they can't help you. They can't keep up with what's in all their boxes any more than you can... |

Worse to worst Bush's bitter ... (Oct 01 2003 22:27 GMT) - Worse to worst Bush's bitter harvest by Derrick Z. Jackson It is October, and the harvest from the spring's planting of troops remains a grapeless vine, withering into winter compost. Without weapons of mass destruction, Tikrit has given way to Texas, Fallujah is fading into Florida, and the idiocy of another $87 billion for Iraq is rapidly becoming apparent in the latest news from Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. In the season of pumpkins, Bush is turning into one, with millions of Americans feeling like Cinderella after the ballyhoo of violent, vengeful patriotism. |

Grotta ner dig i SNA! (Oct 01 2003 22:25 GMT) - Underbart!

RedLightGreen (Oct 01 2003 22:25 GMT) - RLG's RedLightGreen (formerly known as the Union Catalog Project) is now online. To simplify record retrieval for Web users, RLG has adapted the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records established by the International Federation of Library Associations and the Library of Congress, which distinguishes between a work, an expression, a manifestation, and an item. Data manipulation using this approach will aggregate what can be an overwhelming number of editions into a manageable set of works that match a user's search terms. |
