PDC Pre-Con Tutorial: Windows Forms (Oct 02 2003 08:06 GMT) - I don't think I've mentioned it here, but I'm really looking forward to the Windows Forms pre-conference tutorial I'm giving with Rocky Lhotka at the PDC. I've never spoken at a PDC before but it'll be just like old times with Don, Tim and Martin down the hall. Also, I've never spoken with Rocky before, but he's also a big Midwesterner with a strong opinion, so it should be fun. Plus, he prefers semi-colonless languages, so all kinds of sparks should fly as I attempt to convert him to the one, true way and he does the same to me. We may have trouble remembering there's an audience. |

Because of this, the majority of people posting here (at least for now) will be Microsoft employees. Our intention here was to keep the signal-to-noise ratio extremely low. You won't find too many personal posts here, just good solid information about Longhorn. |

Showing my Dock in public (Oct 02 2003 08:05 GMT) - A deceptively frivolous article on MacDevCenter has inspired a lot of people to show their Docks in public. (The Dock is an application launcher / current applications list / application switcher in Mac OS X, analogous to the Taskbar + Start Menu in Windows.) I noticed a particular commonality among many of the Docks posted, and wanted to ask about it. But before I asked people about their Docks, I thought I ought to show mine. |

Kineser i rymden (Oct 02 2003 08:01 GMT) - Kina skickar kanske upp en bemannad rymdfarkost senare i oktober (Nature). Därmed skulle man bli det tredje landet som skickar människor upp i rymden. Som vanligt när det gäller rymdforskning är projektet en salig mix av vetenskap, militära ambitioner, utrikespolitik, nationell prestige mm: Many of China's space scientists and engineers consider the space programme to be a scientific one, even though it falls within the military budget. They want to see an end to US export-control rules that block collaboration with NASA and exclude China from the International Space Station project. |
