GUANTANAMO GULAG (Oct 02 2003 09:13 GMT) - BBC News: "A civilian translator working for the US military at Guantanamo Bay has been charged with lying to federal officials after he was allegedly found carrying classified information. Ahmed Mehalba, is the third person to be arrested in connection with suspected security breaches at the detention centre in Cuba, where hundreds of al-Qaeda and Taleban suspects are held. Mr Mehalba, a US citizen of Egyptian origin, was detained on Tuesday at Boston's Logan airport after arriving on a flight from Cairo. His court-appointed lawyer said Mr Mehalba would 'vigorously defend himself against these charges'. |
