Photo Archives: Clone Wars Clone Trooper With Speeder Bike (Oct 02 2003 16:54 GMT) - We continue our look at the Clone Wars multimedia adventure in our Photo Archives today with an updated Clone Trooper with Speeder Bike. While on the surface, this appears to be just a repack of last year's clone, the speeder bike has some nifty upgrades like the launching missile and a spot to store a blaster, while the clone is a bit dirtier than before. |

Free speech for everyone (Oct 02 2003 16:54 GMT) - (Review) Jonah Goldberg is tired of the President's critics whining because they don't get a free ride for their criticism. So let me just get this out of the way as quickly as possible. Criticizing someone else's criticism — even... |

Is India To Blame For The Jobless Recovery? (Oct 02 2003 16:53 GMT) - It's becoming increasingly popular among techies to bash Indian outsourcing. We've discussed this before, but two articles were submitted this morning by different people, and you can sense that the rhetoric is getting worse. The anger is misdirected and if it continues, it will end up costing the American economy more jobs than it saves. First, we have John who submitted a story out of Australia saying that India is to blame for the so-called "jobless recovery" of the American economy. Then, Kevin K aka EMC Guy submitted the story about how techie jobs are "booming" in India, which reads like an article talking about engineers in Silicon Valley four years ago (ah... |

Box-O-Books (Oct 02 2003 16:52 GMT) - You know, packing up your technical books is really like storing a bunch of broken promises. "I'm going to learn Symbian programming inside and out!" I said enthusiastically at one point, along with PalmOS... and Python and Cocoon, Weblogic, Java Security, Design Patterns, etc. All of these good intentions starting with a quick trip to the bookstore to stock up on the right manuals. |

Sun is Hiring (Oct 02 2003 16:52 GMT) - If you didn't see it, check out this page from Career Builder. Maybe the dates are messed up, but it looks like yesterday Sun Microsystems opened up 280 jobs across the US, with 191 in Calfornia. Wow, I'm definitely going to apply, though I doubt I'll get far in their HR bureacracy (no BS degree). I'm actually totally gung-ho on their new Java System plan, but didn't they just *lose* a billion dollars? They must be betting the farm on the new business model, hey? |
