Halo PC: First Impressions (Oct 03 2003 08:59 GMT) - Overall, I am sad to say I am not as impressed with the PC version of Halo as I was with the XBOX version. The graphics are good but sometimes they seem out of sync with the dialoge. Truthfully I... |

I've figured wxWindows out (Oct 03 2003 08:59 GMT) - Well, I've finally had a little time to spend to figure out wxWindows. Much better than last time. The interface is Spartan but functional. This is a program that, once I'm finished with it, I'll be able to use to post to my weblog. I'll be free from XML-RPC as well And I'll share the code for this as an example after it's finished. |

Up All Night (Oct 03 2003 08:58 GMT) - I stayed with this As - Red Sox game deep into the early morning, so I'm really tired, and I'm out of coffee, too. It was a really good game, and not just because I had some change on the Athletics. Two great starters watched their fine work get flushed by the bullpen, but that's just the way baseball works these days, and it's not surprising. The 9th inning rally was classic "scrappy As" baseball. There is some weird twist to Ramon Hernandez laying down a non-Moneyball squeeze to score Eric Chavez (who was only on third because he succeeded with a decidedly non-Moneyball steal of third with two outs) to win the game. |

Gag Me (Oct 03 2003 08:58 GMT) - I found this in my inbox this morning from Borders, promoting an in-store appearance: Meet Molly Ivins Tuesday, October 7 7:00 PM Molly Ivins and Lou Dubose have been tracking the idiosyncrasies of George W. Bush ever since he was the governor of Texas. Now they turn their attention to his White House tactics in their most recent book, Bushwhacked. |

Friday thoughts [Kasia Molga-Delija] (Oct 03 2003 08:57 GMT) - A few days ago, I was talking to a fellow ecademist on the ‘phone. Although we were talking business, our conversation drifted off towards the issue of time. He remembered that when he was a child, 10 minutes for him meant eternity. I could not believe that the meeting we had previously was a week ago. So we moaned about the time going really fast for a while and then we returned to our main topic. |
