AHNULD LOVES MONEY, WOMEN (HIS WAY) AND STEROIDS (Oct 03 2003 09:56 GMT) - SFGate: "Democratic state Senate leader John Burton said Thursday that Republican candidate for governor Arnold Schwarzenegger should pay nearly $800,000 in sales taxes he avoided while buying a corporate jet in 1990. The jet deal apparently broke no tax laws. However, Burton noted that Schwarzenegger, in his only debate, criticized then-competitor Arianna Huffington of avoiding paying income taxes through a loophole the actor said was 'big enough to drive a Hummer through.' 'Arnold used a tax loophole big enough to fly a plane through,' said a Burton statement calling on Schwarzenegger to pay the sales tax now. |

Bush decides to cut his losses and pull out of Iraq, with or without a UN peacekeeping force in place. For both serving and aspiring autocrats around the world, such a denouement would call for the “mother of all celebrations.” [...] It could very well mark the end of an era of imperial defense and grand strategy spanning centuries that had kept despotism in check [... |
