- Too bad Honeywell no longer makes its Kitchen Computer. This computer was marketed for the wealthy and savvy housewife. It appeared on the cover of a Neiman-Marcus catalog in 1965. Basically, you could program recipes into the computer and it would store them for you. However, it was $10,000 in 1965, and you needed about two weeks' worth of programming to operate it. |

Med Update (Oct 04 2003 09:01 GMT) - well, it seems like i've been out here in the med for ever. it certainly seems like a lot longer than the 6 weeks it's actually been! however, the good news is that i'm heading home on wednesday and we'll be travelling via malta, which should be quite interesting. the first 3 weeks were pretty busy, and went by really quickly but since then we've has almost nothing to do- to be honest it's been really boring. we came into port 3 weeks ago for a crew change in a small town called polarzo, which is in the south eastern corner sicily. |

- Not sure if it's the same in USA, but I always wondered in UK why manufacturers didn't produce & sell a cheap basic laptop Seems like they've finally cottoned on to this market & laptops are now appearing in ads new for UK£500 + tax They use a Celeron 2.0GHz CPU & have a basic spec. I get asked so many times by people who just want a basic computer to surf & email, edit dig. photos etc. (no fancy games) but don't have space for a computer desk. |
