Student entrepreneur club makes addition to business plan contest (Oct 06 2003 23:45 GMT) - The Princeton Entrepreneurship Club last week kicked off its sixth annual Business Plan Contest, which will differ substantially from previous years. Officers plan not only to revamp the Business Plan Contest, but also to launch an incubator that would provide startup capital or office space for Princeton student companies. |

New Fields Center director seeks to foster diversity (Oct 06 2003 23:45 GMT) - As the new director of the Carl A. Fields Center for Cultural Understanding, Makeba Clay said she is eager to work "with the campus at large on issues of equality and justice." Assuming the position left open by Heddye Ducree roughly six weeks ago, Clay is now at the helm of one of the sole institutions on campus dedicated to actively promoting and supporting various issues of multiculturalism and diversity. |

Helping Africa overcome (Oct 06 2003 23:45 GMT) - The standard reaction to the word "Africa" in the West is a sense of overwhelming frustration. Africa is notorious as the land of failed states. Western societies are ones in which democracy, the rule of law and judicial independence are basic building blocks, and the population is relatively prosperous and happy. |

Suicide on a Saturday night (Oct 06 2003 23:45 GMT) - Some nights ago I was playing chess with a suicidal man. Hurricane Isabel had turned out largely disappointing for most of the campus, but I certainly felt like I was in the eye of a storm. |

Piran's Round (Fieldnotes by pure joy) (Oct 06 2003 23:45 GMT) - St.Piran's Round - 2nd October 2003 Although it's not signposted it is relatively easy to find 1.2km along the B3285 from Goonhavern (towards Perranporth), on the north side of the road, just off a small lane opposite a pink house. You can park a car discreetly on the side of the lane, just off the main road. There is open access to the land. |
