- *sigh* Now my head hurts. I took two ibuprofen, but it has not changed the results of the analysis. This is a disappointing turn of events for a paper that has been conditionally accepted for publication in a major journal. A quick ferreting around (read data snooping, which is a a big no-no in my book) in the revised data produced one new, albeit minor, finding of significance, but a major null hypothesis of the article has been retained. Fisher may have been a great mind, but Statisitical Hypothesis Inference Testing (Cohen, 1994) can blow me. |

A Critical Look at the RSS-Data Proposal (Oct 07 2003 23:58 GMT) - Why The problem Jeremy Allaire is attempting to solve is how to extend the information provided in an RSS feed with custom information specific to a particular news source. Traditionally, RSS has been used as a way to syndicate news items but it quickly became obvious that RSS feeds and RSS readers are a good way to represent and consume periodically changing data from any information source. Various ways to provide custom information beyond the data traditionally in an RSS feed (i.e. author information, publication date, title, description of content, etc) were proposed and the RSS world settled on using namespace based extensions. |
