developer.symbian.com? (Oct 07 2003 00:56 GMT) - Here at Mobitopia we've never hidden our thoughts on the situation for Developers using the Symbian OS. Looking at the website offerings from PalmSource and Microsoft's Pocket PC, they offer easy paths in getting started on their systems, links to tools, papers, example codes and everything else you'd expect. The Symbian Developer Pages have always felt sketchy. I don't see a 'How to get started" or a simple 'Differences between the phones' which I thought would have been something that should be up there in big friendly letters. It's nowhere near as accessible as PalmSource and Pocket PC, and invariably sends you off hunting for a link on another website. |

Mobile Email (Oct 07 2003 00:56 GMT) - I've been thinking about mobile email a bit having recently read articles about mobile email's growth, Nokia Access Mobilizer and today Seven's new Katai Office service for KDDI in Japan running on top of Qualcomm's BREW platform (Seven also announced a deal with DoCoMo back in July as well). Though email's been done pretty well on the Blackberry proprietary service (which Nokia integrates into their new offering) and to some extent on the Danger Hiptop as well, for most mobile networks, there's still a lot of space for email solutions it seems. Email in general is broken. Between Spam and Viruses it's becoming harder and harder to filter out real messages from the crud that fills your inbox every day. Most people deal with it because you have to, but when you start paying by the kilobyte for mobile services, suddenly all that Spam and Microsoft virus attachments ("use this patch immediately! |

BTTF and Cubbies (Oct 07 2003 00:55 GMT) - If I recall correctly, Back to the Future discussed the World Series, not the NLCS. Furthermore, it was against Florida, not in Miami. Besides, the Cubs should have homefield advantage in the series because as far as I know that is never given to the wildcard winner. So they shouldn't have to win in Miami anyway. Heavy. |
