Japanese Class: Before and Now (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - You had Spanish, French, German, your run-of-the-mill languages offered in high school. But in our school, Japanese was the only language class to be taught in secret. Like a cult, above-32nd degree Masonic, illuminati-type secret. It's been around so long, you wouldn't know it existed unless you asked your counselors or heard it from the class-takers themselves. And this time, compared to previous years, we had an actual instructor in the classroom. |

Oceanfront: Back to Peace (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - The Virginians here like to claim it as the World's Largest Resort Area. A mishmash of hotels and motels, big and small, are chained across the beach strip: The Marriot, The Holiday Inn, Howard Johnson, Best Western, you name it, they're all here. Across the street, you have your mélange of exotic beach shops, ice cream parlors, dance clubs, and fancy restaurants. |

Surprise Money (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - At ODU, I'm only taking four wee credit hours as I finish up my last year of Japanese study. I scuffed my own pockets to pay the tuition, since they informed me last minute that they wouldn't offer financial assistance. So, I expected nothing from them after that. But hey whaddya know? ODU sent me magical check out of nowhere for $394. |

Credits, 311, deleted faq (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - Added one more item to the credits. Re-edited the 311 section. Turned the links section into a blog since it was a becoming a hassle to update 3 pages everytime I wanted to add something. The FAQ is gone. It was pointless. |

Comments on Dove Report for 9/21/03 (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - Today, Dove gave a brief report on the spiritual aspects of NESARA. Here are a few quotes from the report: "What I often see is that people fail to appreciate that having enough money does give one more personal autonomy and energy to live one?s spiritual values and take action to help humanity or the world. Perhaps people have gotten confused with the old idea that money is evil but in fact, it was the LOVE of money is the root of all evil?. |

Last resort: Iframes. (Oct 08 2003 03:23 GMT) - In my previous layouts from last year, I used iframes extensively. And just because of the complexities it caused in the past. I've been abstaining from them since I built Outernet. Since yesterday, I've been pondering theories on having links to commenting etc on the left hand column, since they're seperate blogs. All attempts led to frivolous parse errors which forced me to retreat to the b2evo forums for help. |

Now, I'm running into a few more problems: - Can't use comments, trackback etc for left-hand column stuff - date problem - When posting a comment, it sends to htsrv dir These scenarios are stalling me. I'll have to dabble more with the code, but the last few hours of codechurning killed my motivation. |

TV's Tipping Point (Oct 08 2003 03:20 GMT) - [via Kevin Werbach] PaidContent has a speech made by Ashley Highfield, Director of BBC New Media & Technology. It is fascinating for the insights it gives into what is happening around television. Some excerpts, focusing on the four key changes happening in the broadcast industry: Firstly, consumers are taking control of their media consumption, choosing not just the 'what' they watch but also the when, how and where they watch it. Now most people here probably know that TiVo and personal video recorders dramatically failed to rock anyone's world when they originally launched in the UK. |
